Warm Winter Lunches with Vaya Tyffyn - A Review
We are heading into Winter here in Australia and I love nothing more that a hot lunch when I'm working away from home. Nothing warms you up on a cold Winter's day like warm soup or stew. Today I'm going to show a new product that helps you do just that - the 1000mL Tyffyn insulated lunch box by Vaya.
The Tyffyn has the ideal blend of design and functionality. It has three separate compartments which also have removable dividers in them so you could potentially take six different dishes with you for lunch! I really enjoyed seeing that all three containers weren't the same size, meaning I could put my 'main' meal in the large 400mL container and my little extras like bread and a snack in the other two 300mL containers. I was worried the containers would leak but they didn't and it's because of the way the whole Tyffyn is packed. Each individual container has a lid so the first container carefully moulds into the insulation base and the others mould into one another's lids so they stack up super firmly, then the insulation lid holds them all snug so they don't knock around or move.
I was really impressed that by the time I got around to having lunch at 1.45pm (late I know!) my lunch was still hot! I packed it at about 8am and have previously had stone cold soups from thermos' that were meant to stay hot but were indeed cold after only a couple of hours. A big plus for me is that I didn't need to cram the Tyffyn into my work bag for the day either, it comes with it's own over-the-shoulder sling bag which it fits perfectly into. Another way it saves any movement from the containers, so many layers of support!
After you're all done having your hot lunch in what would have to be the most stylish insulated lunch boxes (I got the Wintery purple knit one but there is also a maple timber one and earthy green one), you can re-stack the whole thing and pop your interior containers into the dishwasher at home so they're ready to go again in the morning!
Taking a hot lunch, especially in cooler months, is an easy way to increase your veggie intake too. I mean, who seriously wants to eat a cold green salad when it's pouring outside and fifteen degrees? Not me. Fill one container with some minestrone or pumpkin soup, the middle one with steamed or roasted veggies and the bottom one with warm crusty bread to mop up some soup and spices from the veggies!
You can buy a Tyffyn now for yourself here and thank me later when you're feeling satisfied, warm and healthy from a nourishing and hot packed lunch each day this Winter!
