Alfajores

I first tasted real alfajores while holidaying through Spain and Portugal last year. Even though I’d made alfajores before, these were different. They had some spice to them, and upon asking the bakery I found them at, pisco and cinnamon in the cookie dough. These alfajores were the best I’d ever tasted.

Tahini Banana Bread

If I could only have one snack for the rest of my days, it might just be this tahini banana bread. I cannot explain how DELICIOUS and soft and morish and just utterly scrumptious it is!!

Fig and Hazelnut Cake

This cake is so gorgeous. Two of my favourite flavours combined. The sweet, honey-like figs with their oozy, soft texture and the earthy, buttery flavour from the ground hazelnuts is heaven together.

Vanilla Malted Milk Cheesecake

Whenever we have dinner parties, this is the cake Isaac makes. It’s his specialty and he has been perfecting it for a few years now since finding a very basic baked cheesecake recipe in an old magazine that he ripped out and stuck into his own personal cookbook that now has alterations and changes and scribbles all over it.

Salted Caramel Apple Turnovers

This week I went apple picking with Montague for the launch of their new apple, Smitten. It was the first cold Melbourne morning we had had in ages, probably since last Spring really but I got up, drove the hour to the orchard then wound up on a dirt road that had a sign for apples at the start of it.

Cinnamon & Walnut Cake

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas and I for one cannot wait! It's my favourite time of year. Lots of cooking, and getting together with friends. Plus Michael Buble's Christmas album and 'Love Actually'. And decorating. There's literally nothing I don't LOVE about the festive season.

Chocolate Fudge Zucchini Brownies

In case you needed any extra help getting through this crabby Melbourne week, I've got you sorted with these incredible chocolate fudge zucchini brownies. They are ridiculously good and fudgey. So fudgey that when you bite into the brownies, it gets stuck to your front teeth and you look slightly crazy if anyone sees you smile! They're THAT good.

Dark Chocolate Pomegranate Fudge Cake

What's a birthday without cake right? Not a birthday at all I say!

I make my famous chocolate cake every year but this year I put a twist on the classic, pomegranate! It might sound strange but the slight sourness that pomegranate molasses has compliments the bitterness of dark chocolate so well. A total flavour bomb. Especially when you go all out like I have (well it is a birthday weekend!) with whipped cream and ganache frosting...heaven!

Hi-Fibre Seed & Oat High Top Loaf

It's August already! Where has the time gone?! It's been six weeks since moving house now, and we are hopefully inching closer to finding our own little house but for now, Isaac, Frankie and I are living with his parents. Frankie is so brave with their dog, Harper, a labradoodle. I hope they become best friends soon because it'd be so cute and it would make my life easier not having to monitor them together all the time!
